GammaTech Debuts Two New Fully Rugged, Accident-Resistant DURABOOK Computers at CES

Durabook R13S and RT7V Tablet Models Feature Fast Processing, Large Storage Capabilities, and Spill-, Dust- and Shock-Resistance in a Durable Lightweight Shell

2009 International CES

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--2009 International CES, Las Vegas, Sands Expo and Convention Center, Booth # 72832 – GammaTech Computer Corporation, a worldwide leading manufacturer of notebook computers, today debuted two new versatile, fully rugged personal computing devices for mobile professionals who work under adverse conditions. GammaTech’s DURABOOK brand has gained notoriety with its semi-rugged notebook line and is releasing its first fully-rugged PCs at CES.

The DURABOOK R13S includes an Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor and can withstand drops, spills, vibrations and dust, while the DURABOOK RT7V features touch-screen functionality with similar durable functionality. GammaTech will showcase the fully rugged models at the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to be held in Las Vegas on January 8-11.

Both the R13S and RT7V Tablet, which include revamped Durabook technology, employ magnesium top and bottom cases to protect the devices’ LCD and vital internal components, providing sensational resilience within the most adverse working environments. The new models can withstand multiple drops from more than three feet, feature robust spill- and dust-resistant protection, and can handle severe vibration with anti-shock mounting designs around the memory, CPU and Hard Disk components.

Durabook R13S

The Durabook R13S includes a 13.3 inch convertible display with a sunlight-readable option for easy interface, a speedy Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, and internal TPM and hard drive encryption capabilities for increased security options. The R13S can store 250GB of information and support multiple wireless options, making it perfect for business professionals who are on-the-go or working in unstable conditions and enjoy a more traditional computing experience.

For enhanced security, the R13S supports HDD User Password Protection, fingerprint recognition technology, and a Kensington Lock. The device’s 9 cell lithium ion battery offers more than 6 hours of rechargeable functionality. DURABOOKS use an exclusive optical disk tray lock that prevents unintentional tray ejection due to dropping or vibration.

The Durabook R13S measures 344mm (W) X 253mm (D) X 58mm (H) and weighs less than 8.4 lbs (3.8 kg).

Durabook RT7V Tablet

The Durabook RT7V Tablet emerged unharmed from a test sequence consisting of 26 drops onto 3 cm plywood at a test height of 4 ft. The truly rugged tablet PC features a 7 inch color LCD with touch screen functionality, offering storage up to 120GB and featuring a VIA VX700 chipset and VIA C7-M ULV processor for cutting-edge tablet PC usability.

Utilizing a 4 cell lithium ion battery, the Durabook RT7V Tablet is able to recharge in 2.5-3 hours. Security options include HDD User Password Protection and BIOS I/O lock. The device is compatible with Microsoft Windows XP Tablet.

The Durabook RT7V Tablet measures 227mm (W) X 161mm (D) X 31.5mm (H) and weighs only 2.5 lbs (1.15 kg).
