TRANSFER OF TREASURY SHARES

Amlin plc (“Amlin”) announces that on 7 January 2009 it transferred from treasury to participants in its employee share option scheme(s), the following numbers of its ordinary shares of 28.125 pence each (“ordinary shares”):

2,182 ordinary shares at an exercise price of 110.82 pence per share;

13,017 ordinary shares at an exercise price of 146.49 pence per share;

12,561 ordinary shares at an exercise price of 152.85 pence per share; and

3,894 ordinary shares at an exercise price of 161.77 pence per share

Following the above transfer of shares out of treasury, Amlin holds a total of 8,731,998 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 469,841,441 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
