Axolotl Adds Speech Understanding To Its Elysium Product Range
Axolotl’s Transcription Service For Hospital, Physician and RHIO Customers Provides Higher Quality Data For Electronic Medical Record Systems
SAN JOSE, Calif. & PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Axolotl, the nation’s leading provider of health information exchange (HIE) solutions and M*Modal, a leader in on-demand conversational documentation services, have announced a partnership that will capture dictated encounter information, present it, interpret it and where possible encode it - for improved patient care. Axolotl has integrated M*Modal’s unique “Speech Understanding” engine into its Elysium medical transcription workflow solution to populate its own EMR Lite, third party Health Information Systems (HIS) and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
“Dictation is still the preferred manner of capturing the patient encounter, history, surgery reports etc; this new capability will allow us to populate fields such as problems, medications, immunizations and allergies - significantly enhancing the value of the resulting electronic medical record.”
Speech Understanding is a powerful combination of Speech Recognition and Natural Language Processing. Physicians’ dictations are processed by Axolotl’s Transcription Management System, which builds a growing base of intelligence for each physician - leading to higher quality in both accuracy of information and presentation. When delivered directly to a HIS, an EMR or into Axolotl’s Elysium EMR Lite coded data can be used to more easily guide treatment decisions.
“M*Modal is proud to share in Axolotl’s commitment to generate clinical documents that are not only accessible and shareable, but can populate discrete data elements directly into the EMR,” said Michael Finke, CEO of M*Modal.
“This new capability furthers our mission to improve patient care through electronic health information access, distribution, exchange and management,” said Ray Scott, Axolotl’s CEO. “Dictation is still the preferred manner of capturing the patient encounter, history, surgery reports etc; this new capability will allow us to populate fields such as problems, medications, immunizations and allergies - significantly enhancing the value of the resulting electronic medical record.” Scott goes on to say “Templated clinical data entry has not exactly been a runaway success. If you would rather dictate than fill out on-line forms, talk to Axolotl, we understand!”
