StubHub Launches “Tickets for Trees” to Help Restore National Forests of Arizona
StubHub to Donate a Tree for Every Ticket Sold to Saturday’s Arizona Cardinals Playoff Game; Partnership with National Forest Foundation will Support Planting Thousands of Trees in Local Forests
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--StubHub, the world's largest ticket marketplace, has launched its “Tickets for Trees” program, an effort to plant a tree for every ticket purchased on StubHub for the 2008-09 NFL post-season. With the Arizona Cardinals hosting at least one game in the playoffs by virtue of their division crown, StubHub, in partnership with the National Forest Foundation (NFF), today announced that all tickets purchased for the Cardinals playoff games will benefit the National Forests of Arizona.
With the Cardinals set to host the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday in an NFC Wild Card Game, StubHub will plant a tree in the National Forests of Arizona for each ticket purchased through StubHub for that event and any subsequent games at University of Phoenix Stadium. The National Forests of Arizona are made up of the Apache-Sitgreaves, Coconino, Coronado, Kaibab National Forest, Prescott, and Tonto National Forests, encompassing over two million acres of magnificent mountain country. Between ticket purchases and individual donations, StubHub expects to plant several thousand trees in the National Forests of Arizona and tens of thousands of trees nationwide in 2009.

More information on StubHub’s “Tickets for Trees” initiative can be found on StubHub.com/TicketsForTrees, as well as NationalForests.org. Fans have two ways to participate:
1. Buy an Arizona Cardinals NFL Playoff or Super Bowl XLIII ticket on StubHub.
2. Donate directly to the National Forest Foundation in the name of the Arizona Cardinals.
The National Forest Foundation is the only conservation organization focused on addressing the challenges that face National Forests and Grasslands across the country. As a non-profit partner of the U.S. Forest Service, the NFF supports community-based and national programs that promote the health and public enjoyment of the National Forest System.
Currently, the U.S. Forest Service estimates that approximately 2 million acres of National Forests need to be restored, but that number continues to grow. Reforestation becomes that much more important because of the wide ranging benefits—trees produce oxygen, absorb carbon dioxide, provide homes for wildlife, and filter clean water for all of us to drink. Planting trees is one of the easiest and most-cost effective ways to achieve all these things. For example, 30,000 newly planted trees would sequester more than 15,000 tons of carbon, significantly reducing the buildup of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere and slowing the rate of climate change.
