Electronic Recyclers International Unveils Largest Shredder in North America

Fresno Mayor Alan Autry Cuts Ceremonial Ribbon

FRESNO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Electronic Recyclers International (ERI), the nation’s leading recycler of electronic waste, joined Fresno Mayor Alan Autry and a host of other local business leaders to launch its new e-waste shredder – the largest and most efficient shredder of its kind in North America.

“We’re honored and privileged to have Mayor Autry and all these great Fresno area business leaders join us today for the unveiling of our incredible new shredder”

Mayor Autry cut the ribbon and hit the “on” switch for the ceremonial launch, which took place today at ERI’s new 125,440 square foot expansion facility at 3243 S. East Avenue in Fresno.

ERI's new e-waste shredding system was developed to process the widest range of electronic waste possible. It is made up of 40 different components and the shredders combine for 900HP and weigh more than 120,000 lbs. The main shredder has a 7' wide by 6' long throat which is large enough for batch-fed consumer and commercial electronics scrap. The system’s dual state of the art slow speed shredders are essential components of this system, and capable of handling over 20,000 lbs per hour of electronic waste.

“We’re honored and privileged to have Mayor Autry and all these great Fresno area business leaders join us today for the unveiling of our incredible new shredder,” said John S. Shegerian, ERI’s Chairman and CEO. “Our business has grown so quickly, and the demand for responsible recycling of electronic waste, on a national level, is so great, it was time for us to grow to the next level with our technology. This new shredder system enables us to handle tremendous capacity while allowing room for future growth.”

ERI’s new shredder system can handle virtually anything with a circuit board and a plug. All material is safely slow shredded and then the different commodities are separated from the shredder stream.

Now the largest recycler of electronic waste in the world, Fresno-headquartered Electronic Recyclers is licensed to de-manufacture and recycle televisions, computer monitors, computers, and other types of electronic equipment. ERI processes more than 140 million pounds of electronic waste annually.
