OPEN POST, The Community Website for the Creative Minds Run By The Association of Japanese Animations, Now Accepting Postings from Abroad

TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Association of Japanese Animations, an industry organization consisting mainly of animation production companies, announces that its community website, OPEN POST, now has a new English-language section. OPEN POST acts as a forum that provides animation professionals with an opportunity to submit and publish their work online. The new English-language section allows submissions from artists living outside Japan, who have basic abilities in English.

With permissions given exclusively to OPEN POST, it offers as raw materials some of the characters developed by theme artists including legends such as Osamu Tezuka and Fujio Akatsuka. These characters can be combined into new stories or works in a wide range of genres, including Flash animations, illustrations, screenplays/scripts, etc., specific to the animation and comic industries. We also accept completely original work as well.

Call for Artists

1. Original works, including animation, comics, illustrations or screenplays/scripts

2. Original works in the form of original animation, comics, illustrations, screenplays/scripts, commercial designs and/or character designs, based on materials of the theme artists (including characters, stories, logos, art design and more) made available at OPEN POST.

NB. Rights for materials used in 2, above, are solely limited to use on OPEN POST. Said materials cannot be used for publication or display elsewhere.

Submissions are open to all, regardless of gender, age, nationality or professional status.

Submissions will be reviewed prior to posting on OPEN POST. Please understand that works found to be in violation of our guidelines will not be made public.

This animation industry group began in April of 2002 and consists mainly of animation production companies. As of August, 2008, our association has 56 corporate members. Within an industry that is predominantly composed of smaller businesses, the association puts together the resources and tackles the various challenges in our industry. Of late we have been working to address the concerns raised by increased piracy and the illegal online sharing of copyrighted material in peer-to-peer networks. At the same time. we aim to improve production environments, further develop our talents and work to expand beyond Japan. The AJA is actively involved on all of these fronts.
