Wyoming Family Assistance Fund Receives $10,000 from TriWest
Fund Provides Emergency Assistance to National Guard Families
CHEYENNE, Wyo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Wyoming National Guard members often experience a decrease in their family income when they are deployed, which can affect their loved ones back home. In times of need many of those families have turned to the Wyoming Family Assistance Fund, a private organization that supports families of the Wyoming National Guard.
To ensure that even more National Guard families can receive the financial aid they need, TriWest Healthcare Alliance is contributing $10,000 to the Family Assistance Fund. TriWest’s Don Brown, market vice president for the central market, and Steve Alcock, service area director, will present the contribution to Family Assistance Fund personnel at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at the National Guard Headquarters at 5500 Bishop Blvd. in Cheyenne. Maj. Gen. Ed Wright, Wyoming’s adjutant general, is scheduled to attend the presentation.
“For some of these families, they may not have the resources available to help them as they would at military bases like Warren Air Force Base,” said TriWest President and CEO David J. McIntyre, Jr. “TriWest made the contribution with the hope that we can provide National Guard service members and their families some relief during challenging times.”
There are currently more than 2,900 members of the Wyoming National Guard, of which 80 percent have been mobilized for active duty since 2001. In April, 941 members of the 115th Fires Brigade will deploy to Kuwait for a year.
“TriWest continues to be a steady partner that recognizes the realities of military service and its impact on our families,” Maj. Gen. Wright said. “We are grateful to TriWest for their support, which will help make life easier to bear for Guard members and their families.”
People wishing to support the fund can mail contributions to: Family Assistance Fund, c/o VFW 1881 attn: Michelle Moberg, 2816 E. 7th Street, Cheyenne, WY 82001.
TriWest’s contribution is part of its holiday “Giving to the Guard” campaign, providing support to the National Guard throughout 21 western states. For more on TriWest’s community outreach programs, please visit www.triwest.com, which includes a Guard and Reserve Resource Center.
