Pearson Ford to Merge Operations With Kearny Mesa Ford to Create One of Southern California’s Largest Ford Dealerships

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pearson Ford has announced it will merge and relocate its operations to Kearny Mesa Ford at 7303 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. in Kearny Mesa. The new dealership will be called Kearny Pearson Ford, according to John B. McCallan Jr., owner of Pearson Ford.

“This new Kearny Pearson Ford dealership will present an unprecedented business opportunity to better service our customers and expand our customer base countywide,” said McCallan. “The merged dealership will be a remarkable combination of top performing departments at both Pearson and Kearny Mesa Ford and will create one of the largest Ford dealerships in Southern California and the United States.” The merger will become effective in mid December.

Pearson Ford began in downtown San Diego at 12^th and Broadway in 1946. In 1965 Pearson moved to its existing location at Fairmount and El Cajon Blvd., which at the time was the main route into downtown San Diego on the Historic Highway 80. Pearson gets its name from one of the original founders, Glen Pearson. The current owner, John McCallan Jr., purchased the dealership in 1984. Today, Pearson is widely recognized as the largest Ford parts wholesaler in the southwestern United States and is referred to as the “San Diego Ford Parts Warehouse” by many in the industry. Pearson has also previously been ranked in the Top 100 auto dealers nationwide.

Kearny Mesa Ford is a member of Sunroad Automotive, one of San Diego’s largest dealership groups, with six dealerships in San Diego and three in Mexico, representing nine franchises. Originally, Center City Ford, the dealership was acquired by Sunroad in 1984, and has been servicing San Diego residents for over 30 years. The new Kearny Pearson Ford will occupy the state-of-the-art facility, comprising 10 acres at 7303 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, and is a full-service dealership offering new and used vehicle sales, automobile, truck and RV service facilities, as well as a full service Collision Center.
