Free Knott’s Merry Farm Admission for Gift-Carrying Guests During 10th Annual Toys for Tots Drive Dec. 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2008
BUENA PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Knott’s Berry Farm has teamed up with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, NBC4 Los Angeles, Telemundo 52, 987fm and the USO to make the holidays brighter for kids throughout Southern California.
Under the annual U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Drive, guests bringing a new, unwrapped toy valued at $10 or more to Knott’s will get into the Park free Dec. 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2008 only. The collected toys will be distributed by U.S. Marine Corps Reserve personnel to disadvantaged children throughout Southern California. The annual program is part of a nationwide U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.
The Toys for Tots promotion begins the weekend of December 6 and 7 and will include a 987fm concert by Puddle of Mudd on December 7. Puddle of Mudd’s debut album in 2001, Come Clean, sold over 5 million copies and produced 4 hit singles including “Blurry,” the most played song of 2002 and their latest Release “Famous” featuring the #1 Hit Single “Psycho”.
On Sunday, December 14, Knott’s Merry Farm and 987fm will welcome The Airborne Toxic Event. Named by the Los Angeles Times in its year end wrap-up as the band to watch in 2008, The Airborne Toxic Event is known for its energetic live shows and intense literary songwriting.
Guests participating in the Toys for Tots program on the first two weekends of the promotion can meet NBC4 Los Angeles, Telemundo 52 and 987fm on-air celebrities before experiencing the holiday attractions at Knott’s Merry Farm®. The Park, which has been transformed into a spectacular holiday wonderland, includes activities for the whole family including a colorful Christmas parade.
The “A Peanuts’ Holiday Parade” is a Christmas celebration with seven elaborately themed floats featuring the Peanuts gang and accompanied by students from the Orange County Song and Dance Company. Children and adults alike will be able to get into the holiday spirit as they become part of a magical world of dancing snowmen, oversized toys and glittering Christmas trees.
Returning to Knott’s 2,100-seat Charles M. Schulz Theatre is “Snoopy’s Cool Christmas.” This ice spectacular is hosted by the famous skating Beagle and features Knott’s ensemble skaters, dazzling sets, colorful costumes and plenty of surprises!
Back for 2008’s Merry Farm is the creation of Elf Mountain Christmas. The famous Timber Mountain Log Ride has been transformed this holiday into a world of Elves getting ready for Santa’s busiest day. Rich with lights, music and the merriest of times, this attraction will remain open until Jan. 4, 2009.
The Toys for Tots campaign collected close to 90,000 toys at Knott’s Berry Farm last year and hopes to exceed that number this December. Each year, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve coordinates the distribution of the collected toys to disadvantaged children through local social service agencies. This year’s campaign at Knott’s is supported by UPS, who will transport collected toys to local U.S. Marine Corps drop-off center.
