Apptis Chosen to Deliver IT Support and Services to Department of Defense (DoD) Military Health System’s Enterprise Blade Server
CHANTILLY, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Apptis, Inc., a leading provider of IT and communications services to the federal marketplace, today announced it has been awarded a $4 million contract from the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Defense Health Systems Support (DHSS) to provide operational and maintenance services and support for the worldwide deployment of the Military Health System’s Enterprise Blade Server (EBS).
A complex system, the EBS contains several components that require around the clock monitoring within its operations center. High availability and more than 99 percent uptime is vital to the EBS, because it houses critical medical applications for the Military Health System (MHS).
Under the terms of the agreement, Apptis will play a key role in giving centralized administration support through remote management and monitoring of the EBS sites at military treatment facilities worldwide. Apptis currently supports more than 75 sites and expects 26 additional sites to be brought online within the next year. In addition to providing project oversight and complete and accurate monitoring of the EBS, the Apptis team will be tasked with proactive troubleshooting and problem resolution.
As the incumbent of the initial contract signed in September 2005 and the EBS deployment contractor, Apptis designed and created the MHS Blade Operating Center (BOC). Apptis will continue to maintain the blades' infrastructure and all hosted applications to achieve minimal touch labor at military treatment facilities, ultimately preventing catastrophic system outages by ensuring the system’s uptime.
“We’re very pleased to continue working with the DoD’s Military Health System and recognize the great responsibility we have been given in maintaining key healthcare applications for the military,” said Tom Pike, Group Vice President, Healthcare Systems and Engineering for Apptis. “We’re not just preventing outages for an enterprise system – we’re ensuring that the tools and applications that are required for uninterrupted healthcare are available to military health professionals.”
“The EBS is a complicated system that requires a skillful team of IT professionals to ensure it is running efficiently,” said Carey Lieberman, BOC Program Manager for Apptis. “We designed the system's architecture, deployed it, and implemented the support system to manage the EBS BOC, proving our ability to be the most trusted choice for this contract. We’ve worked alongside the Military Health System’s team for several years now and are confident that this initiative will also prove to be successful in enhancing systems that play a vital role in addressing the medical needs of our armed forces.”
