Allied Telesis Announces iMAP Release 11.0 with G.Bond and QoS Enhancements
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Allied Telesis, a global provider of secure IP/Ethernet access solutions and an industry leader in the deployment of IP Triple Play networks over copper and fiber access infrastructures, today announced a new major software release for the iMAP (integrated Multiservice Access Platform). Adding to more than six years of continuous development for the iMAP platform, Release 11.0 further strengthens the feature set for both FTTH and Triple Play over copper deployments.
ADSL2+ bonding via the G.Bond standard
As HDTV and live Internet video feeds continue to increase the bandwidth demands to subscribers, Allied Telesis has enabled the bonding of ADSL2+ copper pairs by implementing G.Bond on the iMAP ADSL line cards. G.Bond allows separate copper pairs to the same subscriber to be bonded together via software, thus increasing the effective bandwidth to levels where multiple HDTV streams plus Video on Demand, VoIP and Internet traffic can continue to be supported.
“ADSL2+ bonding is critical to us,” said Eric Anderson, Director of Engineering, Construction and Operations for Matanuska Telephone. “Bonded DSL allows us to offer more HD channels to existing subscribers, and access new customers we could not reach before. We tested the R11 beta and will be implementing it into our iMAPs in 2009.”
Enhanced, multi-tiered QoS for fiber deployments
The industry-leading FX20 service module for the iMAP has been further optimized for Triple Play deployments with enhanced QoS capabilities. With iMAP Release 11.0, Allied Telesis customers can now perform rate shaping and limiting per service, per port; thus opening the door for multi-tiered Internet service packages while still providing ample bandwidth for HDTV and Video on Demand.
Increased robustness and carrier grade support for reduced total cost of ownership
As a result of multiple, in-depth user group sessions where Allied Telesis solicited customer feedback on how the iMAP platform can provide additional revenue streams and further reduce operational costs, Allied Telesis added several robustness features and enhancements as part of iMAP Release 11.0. These enhancements are aimed at further reducing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for our service provider customers with new maintenance and configuration support capabilities.
“Customer feedback plays a key role in our development decisions. We are committed to build products that meet their needs and build better networks,” said Bill Allen, Vice President of Sales and Operations, Allied Telesis.
Release 11.0 is available now for customer deployment. Please contact your local Allied Telesis NSP sales person for further details on the feature set provided by release 11.0.
