UtilX® Corporation Announces the Release of Dimethyldibutoxysilane (DMDB), the Latest Generation of Cable Rejuvenation Fluids
SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--UtilX® Corporation (an InfrastruX Group company) announces the release of its latest cable rejuvenation fluid: Dimethyldibutoxysilane, CableCURE® DMDB.
This latest fluid was fully developed at the UtilX Corporation laboratory in Kent, WA. It has been brought to market after many years of laboratory and field research to address some very specific operational issues. It is manufactured and backed by Dow Corning Corporation, as are all UtilX cable rejuvenation fluids. This new fluid has a low vapor pressure at elevated temperatures and a high boiling point and high flash point. This makes it especially suited for larger, hotter-running cables such as feeder cables. This new fluid does not generate methanol on reaction with the water trees in cables and hence is specially designed for methanol-sensitive areas. Therefore, this new fluid has many of the beneficial properties of UtilX’ previous CableCURE® fluids along with these new advantages. This new DMDB fluid can be used anywhere one is currently using a CableCURE® fluid.
To date, over 210,000 feet of cable has already been treated with this fluid with no failures reported. It has also been approved for use on Florida Power & Light’s feeder system.
