Day Pitney Hires Former Federal Securities Fraud Prosecutor into Commercial Litigation Practice

Prior investigations includes subprime mortgage-related frauds, corruption in the stock-loan industry and mail and wire fraud

HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Day Pitney LLP, a leading full-service law firm, has announced the expansion of its Commercial Litigation practice with the addition of Daniel E. Wenner to its team. Based in Hartford, Wenner joins Day Pitney after four years in the Office of the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, where he was assigned to the Business and Securities Fraud section. He will support the firms White Collar Crime & Government Investigations practice.

In his prior role, Wenner worked on investigations into subprime mortgage-related frauds at various Wall Street firms and into corruption in the stock-loan industry, which resulted in 20 convictions. He also worked on investigations and prosecutions of securities, mail and wire fraud, RICO, illegal gun possession, money laundering and drug trafficking. He was part of the trial team that convicted the so-called Mafia Cops for racketeering conspiracy, which included obstruction of justice and murder.

In addition to his work at the Office of the U.S. Attorney, Wenner served as corporate counsel at Pfizer Inc, where he advised on healthcare law compliance and managed state healthcare expenditure reporting. He also served as a litigation associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell, New York. Earlier in his career, Wenner served as law clerk to the Honorable Norman H. Stahl, Circuit Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, Concord, New Hampshire.

He is a magna cum laude graduate of Cornell Law School, where he served as managing editor of the Cornell Law Review. He is admitted to the Bars in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York.
