Dreams/Mounted Memories Co-Sponsors Historic Event with New York Mets Teams
Also Forges Relationship with Current Mets for Catalogue Sales and Shea Stadium Memorabilia
SUNRISE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mounted Memories, the wholesale division of Dreams, Inc. (AMEX:DRJ), in association with MAB Celebrity Sports, will be hosting an outstanding two-day memorabilia show celebrating three of the most notable years in New York Mets history: 1962, the year the team was founded, and its two World Series years, 1969 and 1986.
“We’re looking forward to reconnecting with our fans and to have a chance to thank them for their loyal support every year”
On November 8 and 9, 2008 the representatives from the Lovable Loser team of 1962, as well as 1969’s Miracle Mets and 1986 Amazin’ Mets will be on hand for photographs and signatures at the Crowne Plaza in Secaucus, New Jersey. “This is a great opportunity for Mets fans to meet their favorite players from the three most memorable seasons in the franchise’s 46 years,” said Mitch Adelstein, president of Mounted Memories. “We’ve been fortunate to attract at least 65 players from all three teams who are enthusiastic about the reunion with their teammates and loyal fans.”
Among the players from the original team are Jim Hickman, Ed Kranepool, Don Zimmer and Joe Pignatano. The 1969 team is represented by Hall of Famer Tom Seaver, as well as Jerry Koosman, Ron Swoboda, Jerry Grote, Cleon Jones, Ken Boswell and many others. From 1986, on hand will be Dwight Gooden, Darryl Strawberry, Keith Hernandez, Ray Knight, Gary Carter, Jesse Orosco, Kevin Mitchell and Len Dykstra and many more from the championship season.
“We’re looking forward to reconnecting with our fans and to have a chance to thank them for their loyal support every year,” said pitcher Tom Seaver, winner of 25 games during the 1969 season. “This event is that rare combination of great teammates and great fans ready to have a wonderful time reminiscing.”
Fans will have the opportunity to meet and greet the players, purchase cards and memorabilia and have various items signed by the stars. Also on hand will be select Mounted Memories items from the final season at Shea Stadium, including dirt from the field, and bases and balls used this past year, all mounted, framed and authenticated.
This extraordinary two-day event will be topped off by a once-in-a-lifetime VIP cocktail party on Saturday night, November 8, 2008 from 7-10 pm with the 1986 New York Mets. This exclusive occasion will give fans the ability to closely interact with the players that made that season one of the most spectacular in the annals of baseball championships.
In addition to the show, Mounted Memories has entered into an alliance with the current New York Mets regarding its newest catalogue. Following on the company’s acquisition of StarStruck/Proteam, a catalog-focused retailer in the sports licensed products industry, licensed memorabilia will now be available via catalog orders, where in the past the document featured primarily apparel.
To further solidify Mounted Memories connection with the Mets, the company has arranged to have limited supplies of seatbacks from Shea Stadium available for purchase through the Mets website and Mounted Memories. “With the demolition of Shea Stadium, it is indeed the end of an era. These mounted and display-ready seatbacks are truly an exciting offering. With limited editions of the seatbacks signed by the players from the three incredible years, these will be collector’s items of great interest virtually immediately,” said Adelstein.
Mounted Memories has a well-earned reputation in creating superior memorabilia from historic stadiums as it was the asset recovery company of record for Miami’s Orange Bowl Stadium.
