Actress and Artist Jane Seymour Named Official Spokesperson for Camp Soaring Eagle
SEDONA, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--With the support of actress, artist and child advocate, Jane Seymour, over 350,000 children currently suffering from critical illnesses in the Southwest are now one step closer to discovering the healing power of laughter. Camp Soaring Eagle is proud to announce that Jane Seymour has agreed to be the Camp’s official spokesperson. Camp Soaring Eagle, located in Sedona, Arizona, will provide life-changing experiences to children whose daily struggles due to serious illness often diminish both their desire to be well and their ability to lead rich, productive lives. Many of these children suffering from chronic life–threatening conditions have never had the opportunity to attend camp until now. Camp Soaring Eagle is dedicated to helping them discover a new world of experiences in a safe and supportive environment and at absolutely no charge to campers and their families.
“When I first met Max James, Founder of Camp Soaring Eagle,” states Seymour, “I was inspired by the level of passion and commitment he is bringing to this special project. Sharing this same love for children, I am honored to be the official spokesperson of Camp Soaring Eagle. In the coming months I will be working very closely with Max and the Camp Soaring Eagle Team in raising awareness and support to ensure that thousands of children can discover the healing power of laughter in spectacular Sedona, Arizona.”
Seymour, a multiple Emmy and Golden Globe winner and recipient of the Officer of the British Empire (OBE), which was bestowed on her by Queen Elizabeth II, has proven her talents in virtually all media: the Broadway stage, motion pictures and television. Her love of art and color has led to her great success as a painter in watercolors and oils and as a fashion designer. But most importantly Jane Seymour is deeply dedicated to the welfare of children. As a hands-on mother of six, Jane Seymour takes every opportunity to make a difference for children who are in need.
Actively involved in numerous charitable causes, Jane is a member of the American Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet and works for Childhelp, a national organization dedicated to the research, treatment and prevention of child abuse, as International Ambassador. The organization’s "Woman of the World" award is one of many honors she has won for her social and charitable achievements. Seymour is also the Honorary Chairperson for City Hearts, an organization that enriches the lives of inner-city children and disadvantaged youths, by teaching the performing arts, including painting, dancing and acting.
Jane Seymour will begin assisting to raise awareness and funding for Camp Soaring Eagle at the first annual Sedona Gallery Association, Red Rock Canvas Event, November 7-9. Seymour will be exhibiting her artwork at El Prado Gallery in Sedona, Arizona, where a percentage of sales will go to Camp Soaring Eagle. Jane will also be attending the Red Rock Canvas Gala and Auction to be held Saturday, November 8th, at the Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa. For more information or to purchase tickets call: 928-567-3650.
Camp Soaring Eagle aspires to be a member of the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps. We are following a set of guidelines that we hope will lead to provisional membership and then full membership upon the opening of our camp. These requirements are designed to assure that each member camp provides the highest level of safety and programming for the children. They are also designed to assure that each member camp has sound financial support. At this time the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps is assisting Camp Soaring Eagle to meet the necessary requirements. Being a part of such a well-established and acclaimed network of camps will provide Camp Soaring Eagle with the experience, knowledge and support to operate at the highest level of excellence.
Camp Soaring Eagle is scheduled to open in the summer of 2009. Camp Soaring Eagle will be the only free-of-charge, year-round, multi-disease, medically based residential camp in the state of Arizona.
Camp Soaring Eagle relies on the generous support of corporations, foundations and individuals to help offer many moments of pure adventure, fun and friendship.
