Fireman's Fund Insurance Company Reaches Out to Hurricane Ike Victims Impacted by Storm
NOVATO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company is responding to the victims of Hurricane Ike by deploying its dedicated, mobile workforce of experienced catastrophe experts in and around Houston to assist policyholders and conduct inspections, where permitted, of damaged homes, businesses and other property.
Fireman’s Fund adjusters were on the ground immediately following the storm, making inspections on claims reported over the weekend. In addition, the company’s Catastrophe Claims Center based near St. Louis was taking claim reports and making call-outs to customers reporting damage from the hurricane. The Catastrophe Center expects to continue receiving claims throughout the next several weeks.
As of yesterday, Fireman’s Fund had received several hundred claims for damage from the storm. The majority of damages reported are for trees down on houses, wind damage, leaking roofs and broken windows. These reports came from the areas of Houston which were not evacuated. The company expects loss notifications to escalate over the next several days.
As is its practice whenever possible before a catastrophe, Fireman’s Fund called its independent agents and many policyholders in the Texas gulf coast area well in advance of the hurricane to provide claims contact information and other safety and loss-control assistance. The company made over 2,000 of these calls, which were highly appreciated by agents and customers.
Fireman’s Fund agents and policyholders who need assistance should call (888) FIREHAT or (888) 347-3428 with any special needs.
“Our first priority is the safety and well-being of our customers,” said Paul Stachura, chief claims officer. “Our goal is to help them restore their lives and businesses – to get them back to normal as quickly as possible.”
