Jordan: AREVA and JAEC to Form Mining Partnership
PARIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Regulatory News:
AREVA (Paris:CEI):
The state visit to France by His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan was the backdrop for today’s signing by AREVA and the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) of a memorandum of understanding in the mining business, providing for their creation of a joint venture for the exploration of uranium resources in the Central Jordan province.
A mining convention will be drawn up for the exploration and exploitation stages of the project.
The AREVA group was delighted with the transparency and openness with which Jordan launched its process to set up a national nuclear power program, providing all nuclear safety and non-proliferation safeguards. These conditions will enable AREVA to offer its expertise as an end-to-end stakeholder in the nuclear cycle, to make Jordan’s program a success.
