Swiss Company Makes Quantum Leap in Demagnetization

GRUENINGEN, Switzerland--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Maurer Magnetic AG has come up with a highly efficient process of alternating field demagnetization, thus setting a new technological benchmark worldwide. The patented Maurer degaussing process - developed together with Professor Dr Urs Meyer from the technology institute ETH Zurich - has made it possible, for the first time in the industrial field, to respond to the level of standards required in air and space travel. With the opening of its new technology and service center in the Zurich Oberland in spring 2009, Maurer Magnetic is also establishing a further milestone in its history.

Technological quantum leap thanks to Nippon multinational

Faced with the demagnetization problem when manufacturing TV picture tubes for a Japanese group, Maurer Magnetic, together with Professor Dr Meyer from ETH Zurich, developed an innovative process of alternating field demagnetization. This laid the foundations for the revolutionary Maurer degaussing process, followed by a series of demagnetization appliances, developed by Maurer Magnetic together with an engineering team. The family company has now consolidated the initial phase with the launch of mass production.

The patented Maurer degaussing technology far outperforms existing demagnetization processes, rising above the numerous unique selling points of rival solutions. Reproducible results and residual magnetism lower than the geofield are among the objectives achieved. Decisive factors for this are the intensity, number and accuracy during the decreasing pole reversals, as well as the frequency, all of which join forces in the demagnetization process. Contrary to conventional methods, Maurer degaussing demagnetizers enable flexible use, yielding accurate results. Product parts and materials with the most diverse dimensions can be demagnetized without adapting process parameters or compromising performance. Maurer degaussing achieves maximum measurement values below the earth's magnetic field, thereby guaranteeing total process security and high productivity, not to mention energy savings.
