CSS’ ComView Becomes Part of Hydro One Telecom Initiative to Improve SSHA Fiber Optic Network across Ontario
TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CSS Inc., a leader in multivendor infrastructure equipment management, announced it has been selected by Hydro One Telecom to provide secure and centralized management capabilities for remote switching equipment via its ComView solution, as part of an initiative to upgrade the major telecom network of Smart Systems for Health Agency (SSHA) across Ontario.
Under the initiative, Hydro One Telecom will provide a dedicated provincial core as part of the services provided to SSHA’s overall network service. SSHA’s network, which is used by health care institutions and professionals across Ontario to support electronic health care, will be the largest private, high performance network in the province.
This collaboration represents a major upgrade to SSHA’s network services in terms of bandwidth and security. Consequently, it was necessary to incorporate a proven remote management solution to ensure secure, reliable, and centralized management of Hydro One Telecom’s switching equipment. After extensive evaluation of market offerings, Hydro One Telecom found ComView from CSS Inc. to be the only solution that could meet the project’s robust requirements.
ComView is a compact VPN dial-up router developed by CSS Inc. It is used to secure the serial or network administrative access points of remote equipment from multiple vendors. Hydro One Telecom found it to be the ideal solution for the SSHA project due to CSS engineers’ high touch approach to customization and delivery, along with the solution’s broad capabilities, including:
- IPSec/IKE VPN
- TACACS+ support for AAA-based access management
- PPP callback
- Configurable user access management
- Downloadable device configuration to support volume deployment and management
Currently, more than 400 SSHA sites have ComView devices, enabling Hydro One Telecom and SSHA to improve the delivery of electronic health care across Ontario.
“We’re pleased to be among the quality solution providers that played an important role in making this project a success,” said Thanh Chiem, vice president of business development for CSS Inc. “Enabling healthcare institutions and physicians across Ontario to share patient information through a secure and reliable network is vitally important to patient care, and ComView was the right choice for Hydro One Telecom’s remote network equipment management.”
