Comcast SportsNet Bay Area is on the Move!
Network Plans 32,000 Square Foot State-of-the-Art Studio and Office Facilities; 370 3rd Street, San Francisco to be New Home of ``Authentic Bay Area Sports''
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, home of the San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics, Golden State Warriors, San Jose Sharks, San Jose SaberCats, and San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the network will relocate to bigger quarters at 370 3rd Street in San Francisco (South of Market) and construct new high-definition facilities to accommodate the network’s growth and future expansion. The announcement was made by Ted Griggs, Vice President and General Manager, Comcast SportsNet Bay Area.
Comcast SportsNet Bay Area will construct a state-of-the-art studio, a 24-hour newsroom, HD production facilities, and office space in a multi-million dollar build-out of 32,000 square feet for its new headquarters.
The move to bigger facilities marks a significant step towards Comcast SportsNet Bay Area’s launch of Northern California’s most comprehensive sports news coverage in 2009. Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, home of “Authentic Bay Area Sports,” will introduce the region’s premier live daily sports news and analysis following the completion of the new HD facilities early next year. Complementing its extensive HD game schedule, each week Comcast SportsNet Bay Area will present over 24 hours of live, locally-produced, original HD sports programming featuring news, features, debate, scores and more from all corners of the Bay Area. Show titles and hosts will be announced at a later date along with a detailed programming schedule.
“Our new studios and HD facilities will be a resource that sports fans across the Bay Area can rely upon for up to the minute news, analysis and debate,” said Griggs. “We are creating a facility that will be worthy of the passion and dedication that our viewers bring to their home town teams, and one that will serve as the center of the Northern California sports experience.”
“370 3rd Street is one of the first Class A office buildings in the South of Market District designed to meet LEED standards for building core and shell,” said Scott Smithers, Principal, Lane Partners, LLC. “It is very gratifying to see a premier organization like Comcast recognize the importance of sustainable building practices. We are very excited to welcome Comcast SportsNet Bay Area as our tenant and congratulate them as they move a step closer to launching the region’s most comprehensive and entertaining sports news and talk programs.”
Comcast SportsNet Bay Area signed a long-term lease with Lane Partners, LLC. The network expects to immediately begin construction on its new studios and office space. The network plans to move from its present offices at 77 Geary Street (near Union Square) in San Francisco to its new space early next year.
In addition to prompting the move to expanded quarters, Comcast SportsNet’s expanded programming will also result in substantial job creation. To support the dramatic increase in local programming, Comcast SportsNet Bay Area anticipates hiring more than 50 news, creative and production professionals beginning January 2009.
