Citi Consolidates Global Marketing and Communications Functions Under Lisa Caputo
Kate James Named Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Communications
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Citigroup today announced the consolidation of its global marketing and communications operations under Lisa Caputo, Citi’s Chief Marketing Officer. Ms. Caputo will assume the title of Executive Vice President, Global Marketing and Corporate Affairs. The change will help to ensure strong, coordinated and strategic management of Citi’s communications activities with its external and internal audiences around the world. Citi also announced it has appointed Kate James, formerly Group Head of Public Affairs and Strategy for the Americas of Standard Chartered Bank, as Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Communications.
Ms. Caputo, in her expanded role, will oversee an integrated global function across Citi’s operations in more than 100 countries that encompasses external and internal communications; executive communications; advertising, branding, media, sponsorships, consumer insights and market research; and community relations. Ms. Caputo will continue to report to Citi Chief Administrative Officer, Don Callahan.

Ms. James, who will report to Ms. Caputo, will be responsible for external and internal communications strategy, media relations and issues management. Ms. James will assume her new role in early September.

Lisa Caputo
Lisa Caputo has been Chief Marketing Officer for Citigroup since 2007. In addition, she has been Chief Marketing and Community Relations Officer, Global Consumer Group since September 2005, and has been Chairman and CEO of Citi’s Women & Company business since January 2000. Before Citi, Lisa held senior executive communications positions with The Walt Disney Company and The CBS Corporation. Lisa also spent over a decade in the public sector, most notably as Deputy Assistant to the President and as Press Secretary to First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton at the White House during President Clinton’s first term. Lisa graduated magna cum laude from Brown University and received a Master’s degree in Journalism with highest distinction from Northwestern University.
Kate James
Kate James had been with Standard Chartered Bank since 2004 and moved to the United States in March 2007 to assume the role of Group Head of Public Affairs and Strategy for the Americas. Previously, Kate was based in London with responsibility for developing the Bank’s Government Relations capability; building an integrated approach to Regulatory and Government Relations; developing the Bank’s sustainability strategy and managing the Group’s global community initiatives. Prior to Standard Chartered, Kate held numerous corporate affairs roles for Glaxo SmithKline, including Head of UK Communications at the time of Glaxo Wellcome’s merger with SmithKline Beecham. Ms. James graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge.
