The Amacore Group, Inc. Announces the Appointment of G. Scott Smith as Chief Operating Officer
Accomplished Insurance and Accounting Executive with 30 Years Experience in All Facets of Health-Related Benefit and Membership Programs Joins Senior Management Team
LAKE MARY, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Amacore Group, Inc. (OTCBB:ACGI), a leader in providing health and health-related programs and other innovative and high-quality solutions through its unique multi-channel distribution system, today announced that it has appointed G. Scott Smith (“Scott”) as the Chief Operating Officer of The Amacore Group and each of its subsidiaries.
Scott Smith has over a 30-year record of success beginning as an Audit Manager for KPMG Peat Marwick in Dallas, Texas and subsequently as the President and CEO of Texas-based National Health Insurance Company. During his tenure with National Health, Mr. Smith was instrumental in managing a company that grew from 19 employees in 1978 to 400 employees by 2002. Premium income over that period grew from $6 million to over $250 million and assets grew from $3.5 million to $1.2 billion.
In December 2007, shortly after The Amacore Group acquired ownership of Lifeguard Benefit Services in October 2007, Mr. Smith was appointed Chief Operating Officer of the Lifeguard subsidiary.
Mr. Smith is a member of many professional associations including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Association of Life and Health Insurers, where he also served as a Director and President and served as Chairman of a number of internal committees. Mr. Smith is also an active member of the Professional Advisory Board for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Mr. Smith graduated with honors from Stephen F. Austin University focusing on Accounting, Economics and Computer Science. He became a Certified Public Accountant in Texas in 1979.
