RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association Releases Resource on Progesterone in Assisting Infertile Couples
Brochure Supported by Columbia Laboratories
MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association with funding from Columbia Laboratories (Nasdaq: CBRX) released its newest resource, Progesterone Support in Assisted Reproductive Technology. The brochure provides information on progesterone and its effect on the pregnancy cycle. In addition, the brochure discusses various methods of administration of progesterone.
“Progesterone is a key in the pregnancy cycle and this brochure provides a valuable resource to the 7.3 million Americans facing the disease of infertility,” said Barbara Collura, Executive Director of RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association.
In basic terms, progesterone, which is naturally produced in the body, is often called the pregnancy hormone. Progesterone thickens the uterine lining (endometrium) and prepares it for implantation of the fertilized egg (embryo). Throughout the first trimester, progesterone supports pregnancy. Progesterone is prescribed with in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments and other assisted reproductive technology (ART) treatments.
Robert S. Mills, President and Chief Executive Officer of Columbia Laboratories, noted, “As a leading women’s healthcare company whose patient-friendly FDA-approved products are focused on progesterone supplementation or replacement, we are delighted to support RESOLVE’s efforts to educate the public about the importance of progesterone in the reproductive process. With RESOLVE, we seek to ensure that women are aware of the choices they have in the delivery of this important hormone. We look forward to continuing to work with RESOLVE to support those struggling with infertility.”
