First Philadelphia Charter School Celebrates Opening of Its Rohm and Haas Intergenerational Greenhouse
Recipient of Rohm and Haas’s $30,000 Community Partnership Initiative Grant
PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--First Philadelphia Charter School and Rohm and Haas Company (NYSE:ROH) celebrated the opening of the school’s Rohm and Haas Intergenerational Greenhouse. Students, neighborhood residents, school officials and Rohm and Haas employees were on hand for the recent ribbon-cutting event.
The greenhouse was made possible through a $30,000 Community Partnership Initiative (CPI) grant from Rohm and Haas Company. The greenhouse hosts a comprehensive experiential program for students and senior citizens in the community. Horticultural activities allow participants to get their hands dirty, literally speaking, and in the end displays the fruits (and vegetables and flowers) of their labors. In addition to the greenhouse, the school offers other enrichment opportunities in its facilities for neighborhood residents.
