Samsung Introduces World’s First Innovative PC-over-IP LCD Desktop Display Solution
Samsung Teams with Teradici Corporation to Deliver Integrated LCD Display for a True PC Experience over Standard IP Networks
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Samsung Electronics America, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Corporation, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, today introduced an innovative PC-over-IP® (PCoIP®) display solution in conjunction with Teradici Corporation. Teradici’s PCoIP technology is incorporated into the Samsung SyncMaster 930ND 19-inch display, which delivers a true integrated desktop computing experience over standard IP networks.
The 930ND model is the world’s first PCoIP display that is a complete desktop solution. Its next-generation IT infrastructure comes equipped with a Teradici-compatible blade server and IP address that allows data to be accessed from anywhere at any time. The blade server also offers security benefits to minimize potential data loss and hacking.
The integrated PCoIP display features a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 5ms response time and a resolution of 1280x1024. The monitor also has four USB connectors, 2-way HD audio and DVI-out for a second display, and supports both PCoIP and RDP modes. The 930ND is currently compatible with Windows Vista and XP Operating Systems. With advanced encoding and decoding via hostcard at PC and decoding chip at monitor to deliver our highest-quality images, graphics are displayed in real-time. The 930ND model produces faster compressed data transmission than earlier models for a reduction in image loss.
“The Samsung 930ND PCoIP LCD display brings a highly-innovative and exciting technology to the end-user,” said R.A. Atanus, Vice President of Product Marketing at Samsung Electronics. “By teaming up with Teradici’s technology, the display delivers remote desktop use with high-quality graphics and USB connectivity. This is all part of Samsung’s commitment to create solutions that are both inventive and consistent with our family of quality display products.”
“We are excited to collaborate with Samsung to deliver the world’s first integrated PC-over-IP display,” said Dan Cordingley, President and CEO of Teradici Corporation. “The result is a high-performance, compact, secure and easy-to-use remote solution that delivers a full PC experience to users over standard IP networks.”
The Teradici PCoIP technology enables PCs and workstations to be managed centrally in a datacenter, while delivering high-resolution, full-frame rate 3D graphics and HD media and full USB interoperability. PCoIP technology fixes the challenges of managing and securing enterprise desktops by using a chipset that compresses and encodes the PC experience at the datacenter, and transmits it over a standard IP network to desktop devices. PCoIP eliminates remote issues that may include poor responsiveness, lack of media/graphics support and OS image management.
By integrating the PCoIP technology into the Samsung 930ND LCD display, it allows users to operate a host PC and use desktop peripherals as if the host PC were local. This in turn provides a richer experience, while using minimal network resources and desktop space. All primary functions, from an IT perspective, are combined into the display, which includes software/OS updates, hardware upgrades and configuration management.
