LifeBridge Health, St. Agnes Hospital and CareFirst Select HealthUnity to Power Their Health Information Exchange
BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HealthUnity, a leading provider of health information exchange (HIE) solutions and the technology behind Maryland’s first operational HIE, today announced that LifeBridge Health, St. Agnes Hospital and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield have selected HealthUnity’s HIE software to power their regional HIE linking consumers and health care providers in Baltimore, Maryland. The initiative is jointly funded by CareFirst and LifeBridge Health.
Reliable and secure electronic exchange of patient information among hospitals, physicians and patients is recognized as a critical tool for improving the quality and safety of healthcare delivery.
“Our health information exchange project is a unique partnership between Maryland’s leading payer and two leading providers to build a sustainable model that serves our patients,” said Karen Barker, Vice President and Chief Information Officer for LifeBridge Health. “We wanted to demonstrate interoperability between differing information technologies used by two independent provider organizations. We’re beginning this health information exchange on a small scale but have selected a platform that we believe will accommodate rapid scaling of both participating organizations and use cases. Given HealthUnity’s track record of success in Maryland and other states, we selected them to deliver on our requirements.”
“The vote of confidence expressed in HealthUnity is gratifying,” said Prem Urali, CEO of HealthUnity Corp. “Our 4th generation exchange solution is the result of real-world deployment experience gained in four states. We are proud to be selected as a key partner.”
