HealthPort’s EDMS Software Benefits Students and Educators Using AHIMA’s E-HIM Virtual Lab

ALPHARETTA, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AHIMA and its affiliate, The Foundation of Research and Education (FORE), have launched the HealthPort EDMS as part of their e-HIM Virtual Lab to help health information management (HIM) students and instructors gain valuable access to an archive of health records, as well as to experience hands-on training with an electronic document management system. The goal of the e-HIM Virtual Lab is to support HIM education with new tools and resources, while providing students with web-based access to the latest electronic health record tools and applications as well as practical lessons to reinforce their skills.

HealthPort’s EDMS, which is based on scanning, electronic report management and workflow technologies that create digital images of documents, provide the E-HIM Virtual Lab users with a repository of more than 300 electronic medical records. Students will gain exposure to a wide variety of record formats and the software tools available, as well as improve skills in areas such as developing policies and procedures for document management and creating effective workflows.
