CALIFORNIA EMPLOYERS ENTER RACE TO BE NAMED BY EMPLOYERS GROUP AS ONE OF THE STATE’S “BEST PLACES TO WORK”
Nearly 100 California businesses have entered the running to be recognized as a great place to work in the second annual California’s Best Places to Work program. The program, sponsored by Employers Group, the preeminent human resources expert and advocate serving California employers, is in full swing – and the deadline for participation is September 30th, just 10 working days away.
“We are pleased to offer this exceptional program again,” said Mark Wilbur, Employers Group’s President and CEO. “Last year’s was a huge success and participating companies enjoyed the prestige of being part of a statewide competition along with receiving important feedback about how their company ranks against others in the state.”
The program measures 125 criteria from all participating companies. Ranking is based on blind scoring of responses to questions in nine categories, including:
- Work-Life Balance
- Training
- Diversity
- Pay Practices
- Turnover
- Perks
- Benefits
- Employee Voice & Workplace Culture
- Community Involvement
Selected companies will also be invited to participate in a second round of surveys conducted among a random confidential sample of their employees.
A total of 15 top-ranked companies will be named winners, with five winners from each of three company-size categories: small with 50-99 employees, medium with 100-499 employees, and large with 500+ employees. Participants will receive a final Score Report detailing how their organization scored and how they ranked among the other companies within the same size category so they can benchmark their organizational practices.
“As an employers association, our mandate is to promote HR policies and programs that help employers have a ‘win-win’ with their employees,” says Juan Garcia, Director of Research for Employers Group. “This program reveals employers who are doing just that.” Garcia adds that one of last year’s winners put it this way:
“I consider this recognition to be one of the highest honors we could achieve as an employer…a tribute to all our employees who create and sustain our terrific work environment,” says Dave Styler, President and CEO of Lockheed Federal Credit Union.
Winning organizations will be recognized in early 2009 at a statewide Gala event, featuring prominent speakers from the business community.
