Homer Memorial Hospital Selects HMS to Provide

Information Technology Infrastructure

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Healthcare Management Systems, Inc.^® (HMS) announced today that it was selected by Homer Memorial Hospital to supply a full system of clinical and financial software. Homer Memorial Hospital, a 50-bed facility in Homer, La., is among many healthcare facilities facing the need to add an electronic health records product in order to meet state and federal mandates, streamline billing and administrative functions and keep their technology infrastructure current. The system will be part of a regional information-sharing network, called a RHIO, that coordinates patient records and helps treat patients throughout the state if other disasters like hurricanes Rita and Katrina occurs.

Once the system is in place, Homer Memorial Hospital will be working with local and regional physicians to assure they have immediate access to their patient records from both inside and outside the facility. “This improved access will help our physicians see information and make decisions quickly,” says Doug Efferson, administrator of Homer Memorial Hospital.

In addition to the EHR product, the HMS system will also allow Homer Memorial Hospital to transition from a paper intensive structure to nearly paperless processes in both the administrative and clinical setting.
