Blue Bamboo H50 Terminal Achieves MasterCard PTS Approval
SHANGHAI, China--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Blue Bamboo, an innovative provider of electronic payment solutions, announces that its H50 Terminal has obtained MasterCard PTS (Point-of-sale Terminal Security) certification. The H50 Terminal is the first Java based GlobalPlatform device to achieve PTS approval.
“Blue Bamboo is committed to providing merchants with low cost mobile commerce solutions, while maintaining compliance to the most current and rigorous industry standards.”
PTS is a global security evaluation program announced by MasterCard in 2005, targeting the security of Internet Protocol-enabled (IP) stand–alone POS terminals. Together with the encryption requirement, PTS ensures the necessary level of protection to transaction and cardholder data for Merchants that use equipment supporting the TCP/IP protocol suite. Security evaluations, performed by independent laboratories, verify that POS devices meet relevant requirements in terms of confidentiality, integrity and communicating parties’ authentication. According to MasterCard, by addressing the interface of POS terminals to open networks using open protocols, the PTS program compliments existing security programs that already address merchants or POS terminals.
Blue Bamboo’s all-in-one H50 is a versatile handheld POS terminal with configurable communication modules supporting GPRS, Bluetooth, and dial-up connectivity. Its GPD/STIP multi-application platform enables credit, debit, check, gift, loyalty and top-up payments. The H50 has received PCI-PED, EMV Level 1 & 2, and now MasterCard PTS certifications. Packaged in a sleek ergonomic design, the H50 enables mobile professionals to process electronic payments in a simple, reliable and affordable manner.
“With the growth of IP-enabled transactions across cellular, local-area and personal wireless networks, ensuring system-wide security for transactions is critical for new product development companies like ourselves,” said Jason Jones, CEO of Blue Bamboo. “Blue Bamboo is committed to providing merchants with low cost mobile commerce solutions, while maintaining compliance to the most current and rigorous industry standards.”
Bob Beer, Chairman of GlobalPlatform and Vice President Business Development at Datacard Group, comments: “We are very pleased to see a fully compliant GlobalPlatform terminal being successfully developed for and deployed in the global marketplace. This recent announcement regarding the Blue Bamboo H50 terminal showcases how GlobalPlatform technology can provide a neutral and open architecture for vendors to build competitive solutions which adhere to the strictest of security standards, whether they are set out by payment systems, industry associations, governments or other influential bodies. GlobalPlatform will continue to collaborate with industry entities when developing its technology further, to ensure that security considerations, aligned with industry requirements, remain a key priority.”
