TouchTunes to Be First With Wyclef Jean's Latest Album ''The Carnival II (Memoirs of an Immigrant)''
Columbia Records and TouchTunes Partner to Host Exclusive On-Location Listening Parties
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TouchTunes Music Corporation, the largest on-location digital entertainment network, today announced the pre-release of award-winning recording artist and humanitarian Wyclef Jean's latest album, "The Carnival II (Memoirs of an Immigrant)." The album will be available on 15,000 TouchTunes digital music systems nationwide on November 26th, giving fans the chance to enjoy Wyclef's newest album a week before it's scheduled to hit store shelves on December 4th. Other TouchTunes locations across its network of nearly 30,000 digital music systems will be able to download and offer songs from the album beginning on November 26th as well.
“Their reach into our target demographic at places where people are already listening to music is unmatched, and their ability to deliver marketing and promotional messages directly to music fans makes TouchTunes a valuable partner.”
Beginning last week, participating TouchTunes locations featured a series of on-screen billboards that created awareness for the album's first single, "Sweetest Girl (Dollar Bill)" as well as Wyclef's new documentary film, "Cry Haiti." Listeners were also able to respond to an interactive survey about the new album and had the opportunity to join Wyclef's fan club. Additionally, Wyclef's record label, Columbia Records, began distributing 50,000 co-branded postcards throughout its network of influencers across the country.
"TouchTunes digital music systems provide an opportunity for people to explore new music and rediscover old favorites, in a social environment," said Ron Greenberg, chief marketing officer and senior vice president of digital media for TouchTunes. "We're always looking to bring our customers the ultimate music experience. Today, we're really pleased to be able to present Wyclef's latest album on our network."
Columbia Records and TouchTunes will also bring Wyclef fans under one roof through a series of special listening parties at TouchTunes locations across the country, at least one of which will feature an appearance by Wyclef himself. TouchTunes' work with Wyclef and Columbia not only highlights the strength of its entertainment network, but also shows TouchTunes' ability to create excitement via specially designed events -- which bring listeners together for actual social network experiences.
"We are so excited to leverage TouchTunes as we promote Wyclef Jean's latest album," said Anthony Ellis, vice president of Urban Music Marketing, SONY BMG Music Entertainment U.S. sales. "Their reach into our target demographic at places where people are already listening to music is unmatched, and their ability to deliver marketing and promotional messages directly to music fans makes TouchTunes a valuable partner."
This program with Columbia Records and Wyclef demonstrates TouchTunes' ability to provide musical artists with a variety of promotional tools that have the potential to boost album sales and get the word out about new music. "The TouchTunes' digital entertainment network garners an average 40 to 60 million audio impressions every day, giving established artists and new acts alike access to a large, receptive audience," said Greenberg.
Adam Lekach, Manager, digital accounts at SONY BMG added, "We are thrilled to be working with TouchTunes to leverage the unique marketing platform they provide across their network to give music fans the chance to be among the first to hear Wyclef Jean's latest masterpiece."
