Subprime Mortgage Woes to be Subject of Conference
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Recent challenges in the Subprime Mortgage Loan sector have attracted wide attention and concern on Wall Street, Capital Hill, and by the man and homeowner on the street. The concern centers not so much on “How did we get here?,” but rather on “How bad is it going to get?” and “What are the solutions and where do we go from here?.”
While the Subprime mortgage market melt-down made almost continuous headline news in the first quarter of the year, the relatively muted coverage since then does not mean that the problem has gone away. Federal bank regulators and Congress are demanding tougher standards for Subprime loans; numerous Subprime lenders have failed, curtailed or terminated business, or are planning to; Subprime equity stakeholders and investors are taking it on the chin; and the weakness of the housing market is weighing heavily on the Federal Reserve Bank as it ponders its future interest rate strategies.
To assist the financial markets and corporate sector in identifying and implementing debt servicing best practices, ALM’s Strategic Research Institute is sponsoring the 2007 Subprime Mortgage Lending in the Capital Markets Summit. Scheduled for July 23-24, 2007, the forum will be held in midtown Manhattan at the Marriott Marquis in New York City. The topics, chosen with the input of leading Non-Prime Mortgage professionals include sessions on Subprime lending and the CDO (collateralized debt obligation) and RMBS (residential mortgage backed securities) markets; analyzing the future of the sector; predatory lending in the Subprime market; and the impact of Subprime on other mortgage sectors, hedge funds, and the broader U.S. economy.
Addressing the complex financial links between Subprime mortgage lending and other financial sectors and players, a broad faculty of recognized professionals will debate the issues. These include Credit Suisse First Boston; AMBAC Financial Group; Blackrock; Standard & Poor’s; UBS; Clayton; Fremont General Corporation, Hilco Real Estate; and many others.
