Danger, Inc. Teams With Telstra to Launch the hiptop3 Device in Australia
Australian Consumers Will Have Access to the Most Advanced Danger Powered Device
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Danger, Inc., a leading software-as-a-service provider and Telstra, the largest telecommunications operator in Australia, have launched the latest device powered by the Danger® mobile Internet platform. The hiptop3 device, an exclusive from Telstra in the Australian market, features Danger’s familiar suite of mobile Internet applications as well as the popular flip-screen and full keyboard. Along with a sleek design and stream-lined user interface, the hiptop3 device has a completely new look and feel. And with new capabilities such as MP3 player, support for Bluetooth headsets and an EDGE radio for three times faster Internet speeds, the hiptop3 from Telstra promises to make a splash in the Australian market.
“It’s great to see Telstra offer the most advanced device featuring Danger’s mobile Internet service,” said Henry R. Nothhaft, CEO and Chairman, Danger, Inc. “As the popularity of services such as mobile instant messaging and social networking continue to expand, the Danger platform is well positioned for growth in Australia.”
Powered by the Danger mobile Internet platform, the hiptop3 device offers the same uncompromised Internet applications that were provided on the previous version, including instant messaging, e-mail and text messaging, as well as full HTML Web browsing.
Danger’s vision is to enable next generation Web services in the mobile environment, just as the company has used its platform to deliver the best mobile instant messaging service available. The unique system architecture that Danger has created and patented provides a ‘smart-proxy’ that pre-processes and optimizes data before sending it to the device. The system supports an always-on connection to the Internet that is useful for Web browsing, and enables real-time push of data such as e-mail and instant messages.
