Ortiz to Unveil new Reebok Signature All-Star Cleat, “Big Papi 2M Mid,” at Star-Studded Event in Boston, April 10th
CANTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Taking the buzz and excitement of “Opening Day” to a whole new level, Reebok celebrates its renewed partnership with Sox slugger David Ortiz at a star-studded evening event at Underbar in Boston on Tuesday, April 10th. Boston’s Big Papi will be joined by fellow teammates including Josh Beckett, Jonathon Papelbon and Wily Mo Pena and celebrity Red Sox fans including acclaimed actress Chloe Sevigny, music icon Daddy Yankee, Hollywood couple Chris Klein and Ginnifer Goodwin, Super Bowl MVPs Peyton Manning and Deion Branch, premier league soccer standout Thierry Henry, former Miss USA and MTV VJ Susie Castillo, top players from the New England Patriots and Boston Bruins and many, many more.
“Ortiz fulfills his potential each time he steps up to bat and has the energy and charisma to make him just as exciting off the field as he is on.”
Sox strong man Big Papi plans to unveil his new Reebok signature baseball cleat, the Big Papi 2M Mid, at the event. The Big Papi 2M Mid will be worn by Ortiz for the first time in the 2007 MLB All Star Game in San Francisco, CA on July 10th. Available in August at key retailers for a suggested price of $100, the Big Papi 2M Mid will debut in a special silver/red colorway for All-Star and features Ortiz’ profile on the sockliner. In addition, Reebok designers took inspiration from Big Papi’s signature precisely trimmed sideburns for the lines on the sides of the cleat.
"Reebok's loyalty and friendship have always made me feel right at home and we are true partners in every sense of the word," said Ortiz. "I'm happy to continue being a big part of the Reebok family because their gear helps me perform at the top of my game on the field with the style to keep me looking my best off the field, too. Be sure to keep an eye out for me at the All-Star Game where I'll wear my new Big Papi 2M cleat for the first time."
“Reebok is thrilled to continue our partnership with one of the most iconic names in the sport of baseball -- David Ortiz,” said Reebok Vice President of Sports and Entertainment Marketing, Todd Krinsky. “Ortiz fulfills his potential each time he steps up to bat and has the energy and charisma to make him just as exciting off the field as he is on.”
Coming off arguably the greatest season by any Red Sox slugger by shattering the age-old home run record of 54 home runs, Ortiz is one of Reebok’s top MLB players. As the official supplier of Major League Baseball’s Authentic Collection, Reebok also endorses iconic players including Jason Giambi, Andy Petitte, Alfonso Soriano, Justin Verlander, and many more as well as fellow Red Sox players Josh Beckett, Curt Schilling, Jonathan Papelbon, Tim Wakefield, Edgar Martinez, Doug Mirabelli, Brandon Moss and Wily Mo Pena.
