Fuel Tech Announces FUEL CHEM® Demonstration
BATAVIA, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fuel Tech, Inc. (Nasdaq: FTEK), a world leader in advanced engineering solutions for the optimization of combustion systems in utility and industrial applications, today announced a FUEL CHEM® demonstration order placed by an electric generating facility located in Italy. Utilizing the Company’s proprietary TIFI™ Targeted In-Furnace Injection™ program, this demonstration will be conducted on two biomass units burning a combination of wood chips and olive husks. Chemical feed for the program is scheduled to commence early in the second quarter.
John F. Norris Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer, commented, “We are very pleased to announce our first TIFI biomass application in Europe. This order is designed to demonstrate our program’s ability to alleviate the slagging and efficiency-dampening carbon monoxide formation problems often associated with these types of units, which are prevalent throughout Europe. With existing TIFI applications on two coal-fired units in Italy, we are working very hard to expand the global reach of our technology, both from a fuel input and geographic perspective.”
