Randy DeMario, Heath Construction President, Named Northern Colorado’s 2006 Business Leader of the Year
FORT COLLINS, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A panel of judges comprised of top Northern Colorado business leaders yesterday named Randy DeMario, president of Heath Construction, the region’s 2006 Business Leader of the Year.
“Heath’s value and strength is based on more than just leadership. The expertise, outstanding integrity and strong character of our employees has made Heath a great company”
At a luncheon in Fort Collins attended by 300 businesspeople, DeMario was recognized for his business vision and success, management style, leadership skills, respect for employees and community commitment.
“What set Randy apart was this gigantic sense of having an impact on the lives of the people around him, and that impact was incredibly positive,” said award judge Ann Hutchinson, executive vice president, Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce, in a Fort Collins Coloradoan interview.
The award, one of eight Best in Business Awards presented, is sponsored by the Coloradoan. Sixteen judges from prominent businesses in the region selected winners from nearly 200 submitted nominations.
Heath Construction also was a finalist in the "Best Place to Work" category.
DeMario, Heath president since 1992, is committed to enhancing careers of employees, who, he says, will continue the company’s solid growth.
As president, DeMario has implemented a successful employee-ownership program; developed the company’s progressive Go Vertical! career-development program; motivated employees by offering a challenging and inspiring work environment; and instituted an aggressive, award-winning branding/communications marketing campaign to support Heath’s growth.
“Heath’s value and strength is based on more than just leadership. The expertise, outstanding integrity and strong character of our employees has made Heath a great company,” he said.
Under DeMario’s leadership, the company reached a record $45 million in revenue in 2006.
“Construction is all about people – all the talented people who conceive your project and join in building it,” he said. “And all the people who will live with it for years to come.”
He describes himself as passionate, engaged, aggressive, a believer and an optimist.
DeMario is committed to giving back to the community. In December, Heath built the 50-foot-tall NightLights Christmas tree for Realities for Children, a local organization that provides emergency funding for at-risk youth. The steel tree serves as the centerpiece of the organization’s largest fundraising event.
