CompUSA Guarantees Windows Vista Experience or Money Back
Innovative Trade-Up Notebook Program Enables Consumers to Recycle and Receive Value for Old Laptops
DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CompUSA Inc. today announced its promise to give customers a great Windows Vista experience or their money back. For customers who purchase Windows Vista or Microsoft Office 2007 together with installation by CompUSA, CompUSA guarantees customers will enjoy the overall performance and features of Windows Vista or Microsoft Office 2007 or it will refund the purchase and reinstall the original operating system.
In addition, CompUSA announced an innovative offering of a Trade-Up Notebook Program that enables consumers to trade-in and recycle their old notebook computers. The program is designed to help customers apply the value of their old notebook computer toward the purchase of a new Windows Vista computer.
“We are doing more than just selling Windows Vista or Microsoft Office 2007, CompUSA is providing end-to-end solutions to ensure customers get the technology they need to match their lifestyle and business needs,” said Roman Ross, chief executive officer of CompUSA. “Since 1995, CompUSA has been a leader in Microsoft software launches and once again we are differentiating ourselves by giving consumers the expert advice, products, and technical services they need to seamlessly complete the technology upgrade.”
CompUSA’s Windows Vista Experience Guarantee
With the CompUSA Windows Vista Experience Guarantee, customers can rely on CompUSA when upgrading to Windows Vista or Microsoft Office 2007 on Windows Vista compatible computers.
The CompUSA Windows Vista Experience Guarantee is available to customers who receive a free Windows Vista compatibility evaluation and purchase Windows Vista or Microsoft Office 2007 together with installation from one of CompUSA’s 229 stores or at 1-800-CompUSA. CompUSA TechPros will provide professional upgrades plus installation giving customers the peace-of-mind of receiving a guaranteed experience.
Customers who bring their computer to a CompUSA store before 3:00 p.m. on January 29 will receive a free Windows Vista evaluation of their computer. Customers who receive the evaluation will be able to purchase the software installation for only $19.99 and pick up their computer as early as 12:01 a.m. on January 30. Beginning January 30, software installations will be available for $49.99 for in-store and $149.99 for in-home installations. Some upgrades may be required to properly install Windows Vista or Microsoft Office 2007.
Trade-Up Notebook Program
With CompUSA’s Trade-Up Notebook Program, consumers can visit participating CompUSA stores with their old notebook computer, determine its current value, and trade it in towards the purchase of a new computer. The notebook’s value is based on the condition, specifications, and age and will be assessed by a web-based tool provided by a certified technology recycling company to determine its fair market value. The notebook must be in working condition. CompUSA will give the customer the value as a store credit towards the purchase of a new computer with Windows Vista. Customers must complete the trade-in and new purchase on the same day.
The Trade-Up Notebook Program will be available, beginning January 30, at 192 of CompUSA’s 229 stores in the United States and Puerto Rico. Currently, the program will not be available in California.
“For those interested in Microsoft’s new operating system, CompUSA’s Windows Vista Experience Guarantee and the trade-up offer provide consumers with additional benefits to upgrade,” said Stephen Baker, Vice President, Industry Analysis for the NPD Group. “With these offers, CompUSA is addressing the most common barriers that consumers could face in upgrading their PCs to Vista.”
Consumers do not have to wait until Microsoft’s launch to get ready for Windows Vista. CompUSA is currently providing consumers with a free CompUSA Windows Vista compatibility evaluation and consultation to determine if their computer is Windows Vista ready. The evaluation is available at all 229 CompUSA stores throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. A qualified CompUSA TechPro technician conducts the evaluation, which takes approximately five minutes. Customers can visit the CompUSA TechPro Service Center during store hours. No appointment is required to receive the check up. Customers can also go online for a free CompUSA Windows Vista check up at www.compusa.com/vista.
