Seaport Hotel Unveils Seaportal, a Personalized in-Room Interactive Web Application
The First Hotel in the Country to Offer This Complimentary Amenity
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The AAA Four Diamond Seaport Hotel has unveiled Seaportal, a new, in-room interactive web portal, designed to enhance the guest experience by providing personalized services and features “on demand” through a touch screen computer.
Seaport Hotel is the only property in the country to offer this state-of-the-art technology, and to provide it as a complimentary amenity to its guests.
The Seaportal is comprised of a freestanding, flat panel computer monitor, along with wireless mouse and keyboard in the guestrooms. This innovative technology provides current hotel and local attraction information, video and audio entertainment, travel updates and unrestricted web access, including access to web-based e-mail. Direct calling capabilities to various guest services, such as housekeeping or concierge, are also available, as well as complimentary local and domestic long distance calls over the Internet by using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology provided by BlueNote Networks’ SessionSuite™. All features use convenient touch screen functionality.
“The Seaportal is a valuable resource for our guests, enhancing their stay by providing them with a wealth of customized information and appealing services,” said James M. Carmody, Vice President and General Manager of Seaport Hotel. “We believe Seaportal is an innovation which raises the bar for hospitality technology in today’s dynamic marketplace.”
An industry leader in technological amenities, Seaport Hotel developed the Seaportal concept and prototype in conjunction with the Fidelity Center for Applied Technology (FCAT). Seaport, comprised of the Seaport Hotel and Seaport World Trade Center, is a Fidelity Capital company. Seaport integrated VoIP technology with Seaportal, its existing systems and telecommunications infrastructure to create an efficient, cost-effective solution which provides complimentary direct calling capabilities.
“The Seaportal offers our guests tremendous versatility, in addition to providing them with convenient and valuable content, including complimentary telephone service,” said John P. Burke, Vice President of Technology for Seaport Hotel. “By providing web and email access, it enables our guests to travel without their laptops. In today’s environment of ever-changing airline restrictions, this is an important benefit.”
Seaport has already deployed 25 units and approximately 100 guestrooms will feature Seaportals by year end.
