OSRAM SYLVANIA Names Sol Asmar as New President
of Valeo SYLVANIA
DANVERS, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--North American lighting leader, OSRAM SYLVANIA, today announced the appointment of Sol Asmar to president of Valeo Sylvania, the 50/50 automotive lighting systems venture between OSRAM SYLVANIA and Valeo. Asmar previously held the position of vice president and general manager of SYLVANIA Lighting Services from 2003-2006.
Asmar succeeds Rick Leaman, who recently was named executive vice president and general manager of the Global Automotive Lighting division and the OSRAM Automotive division.
In his new role, Asmar will provide strategic management and leadership to optimize operations of the joint venture, and increase business with new and existing customers. He will report to both shareholder companies via the Valeo SYLVANIA Executive Committee, and be based at Valeo SYLVANIA headquarters in Seymour, Ind.
Since joining the company in 1987, Asmar has held numerous positions. He served as general manager of the Fluorescent strategic business unit in Versailles, Ky., and also led the Automotive Lighting plant in Hillsboro, N.H. as plant manager, manufacturing superintendent and industrial engineering manager.
Asmar has a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and an MBA degree in Accounting from Bryant University in Smithfield, RI. Asmar also holds certificates from the Manufacturing Management Institute at Duke University, Durham, NC, and the Executive Development Program at Babson College, Babson Park, Mass.
