Big Spin Appearances Deliver $115,000 in Cash
Prizes to
Two Southern California Mothers
SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mother’s Day has long since passed, but don’t tell that to two southern California women, both devoted mothers, who went home $115,000 richer from this week’s Big Spin® Show. The show, which aired statewide Saturday, October 7, 2006, handed out cash prizes totaling more than $130,000.
The women immediately made it known that it would be their children who would benefit most from their lucky wins. Camilla Outlaw, a letter carrier from Pasadena netted a $75,000 windfall from a trip to The Big Spin wheel. Ms. Outlaw outplayed nine other Aces High contestants in two elimination rounds for a chance to spin for up to $3 million. The mother of a 19 month-old daughter, Ms. Outlaw wants to lay strong foundation for the future with her newfound wealth. “I will use the money to save for a house and for my daughter’s college education,” she said.
Another big winner whose children are very important to her was Lidia Guzman of Los Angeles. She uncovered SPIN-SPIN-SPIN on a winning Big Spin Scratchers® ticket and went directly to The Big Spin wheel. Ms. Guzman walked away with $40,000 and could only think of the good the money would do for her kids. “I want to help out my son and daughters,” she said when asked what plans she had for her prize.
Of course, the children of Lottery winners are not the only ones who benefit. Public education receives at least 34 cents of every dollar players spend on Lottery products. The California Lottery contributed a record $1.28 billion to public education in 2005-06 out of historic sales of $3.58 billion, the sixth year in a row the Lottery has provided more than $1 billion in supplemental funding for education. Since its inception in 1985, the Lottery has contributed more than $18 billion to California schools.
