1,750-pound Gorilla Swings Into Downtown Minneapolis This Saturday; First Major Artwork Finds its Home in Chambers Art Hotel

PHOTO         A six-foot, 1,750-pound gorilla sculpture will be
OPPORTUNITY:  suspended in mid-air with downtown Minneapolis as its 
              backdrop this Saturday as the finishing touches are 
              underway at the highly anticipated Chambers hotel.  The 
              900th block of Hennepin Avenue will be closed to 
              accommodate the 26-ton Boom truck and crane which will
              position the lifelike gorilla into its new home within 
              the outdoor courtyard of Chambers.
             
              The gorilla, an Angus Fairhurst sculpture, marks the 
              first of several contemporary -- and often controversial
              -- pieces of art that will be will be installed between 
              now and the hotel's opening on September 10.   Named "A 
              Couple of Differences Between Thinking and Feeling" 
              (2003), Fairhurst's work of art shows the realistic 
              gorilla contemplating its missing arm on the ground.
              
              Chambers Owner/General Partner Ralph Burnet and General 
              Manager George Prine will be onsite on Saturday to 
              answer questions about the Fairhurst sculpture, the new
              hotel and its expansive art collection.

              NOTE: Unfortunately the interior of the hotel will not 
              be available to cameras on Saturday.

WHEN:         Saturday, August 26, 2006
              10:50 a.m.: A crane will hoist the 1,750-pound gorilla 
              sculpture into the air and position the gorilla into 
              place in the hotel's courtyard.
