SUPERVALU Elects Paul Singer as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 6, 2006--SUPERVALU INC. (NYSE:SVU) announced today the election of Paul Singer as senior vice president and Chief Information Officer to lead the company's information technology operations.

Singer joins SUPERVALU with 27 years of retail experience in IT, merchandising, and inventory and supply chain management. He served as Target Corporation's Chief Information Officer from 2000 to 2005 and was a member of its Executive Committee. While at Target Corporation, Singer was responsible for IT strategy, planning and operations. Singer will assume his new role at SUPERVALU immediately and will report to Pamela Knous, executive vice president and Chief Financial Officer.
