Real Mex Restaurants Implements iPass Retail Connection, Connecting 190 Restaurants with Secure High Speed Broadband Service
iPass Retail Connection leverages an industry-leading aggregated network of cable and DSL providers to bring high-speed broadband to retailers -- including restaurateurs -- providing them with always-on access in a secure and well-managed environment. iPass Retail Connection also provides a full suite of managed services, including 24/7 proactive network monitoring and management, regular vulnerability testing, and automatic trouble ticketing and email alerts. For Real Mex Restaurants, the iPass Retail Connection manages its secure credit card transactions, supports the employee email system, distributes internal company communications and manages vendor orders.
With the implementation of iPass Retail Connection across all of Real Mex's nearly 200 restaurants, Real Mex has seen its transaction time decrease from 30 seconds per credit card swipe down to one second for an approval. In addition, as a result of the lower total cost per transaction delivered by the iPass Internet-based virtual private network, Real Mex has realized a 65 percent savings in IT costs. This new IP Virtual Private Network solution replaces the company's legacy ATM/Frame technology network.
"Both Real Mex and our customers have experienced the benefits of the iPass solution," said John Koontz, vice president of IT at Real Mex Restaurants. "Our customers are served more efficiently, our employees are more productive and the price performance of the system has exceeded our expectations. It's secure, fast and cost-effective -- we're very happy with our decision."
"Real Mex's commitment to providing excellent service is evident in its choice to go with our iPass Retail Connection solution," said Piero DePaoli, Director of Fixed Broadband Services, iPass. "Our technology and managed service enables Real Mex to concentrate on their real business -- running their restaurants and making their customers happy."
