Aviza Technology Announces Shipment of Sigma(R) fxP(TM) to Freescale Semiconductor

The Sigma fxP is a single-wafer cluster tool designed for high-volume PVD processing. The cluster architecture of the Sigma fxP sputter deposition system offers excellent process control with high throughput. Various process chambers are available for a large variety of specific functions. Deposition process modules are based on a standard design that enables simple technology upgrades and wafer size conversion. Key applications for the Sigma include: back-end markets (i.e., power applications and interconnect) and compound & micro/nanotech (i.e., bulk acoustic wave (BAW) and compound metal applications).

IC consumption in automotive uses, including analog, MCUs, DSPs and special-purpose logic devices, is forecasted to grow at a CAGR of approximately 8 percent to reach $18.5 billion by 2010, according to VLSI Research Inc.
