| Pitbull and Lil' Rob Collaborate for Live Concert amidst Medley of Drag Racing, Sport Bike Stunting, Supercharged Driving Demos and the Official Formula D New Driver Search |
Action Media debuts its 2006 Nightshift format in San Diego from 4-11 p.m. on March 18 at Qualcomm Stadium for a jam-packed night of motorsports, live concerts, cars and models. As the second show in the 2006 XM Satellite Radio Hot Import Nights season (HIN), the San Diego Nightshift show features the exciting lineup of drag racing, supercharged driving demos, sport bike stunting exhibitions and the Formula D Championship Drifting series official driver qualifying event. The motorsports extravaganza shares center stage with live concerts by platinum reggaeton artist Pitbull and West Coast favorite Lil' Rob in an unprecedented performance at HIN/Nightshift.
For 2006, HIN takes the ultimate custom car festival to a new level by creating a show that celebrates all elements of youth culture with competitions in several burgeoning youth lifestyle scenes, including several types of dance competitions, a year-long Miss HIN 2007 pageant with winners in 19 cities, video game tournaments, DJ competitions and the ultimate custom car contest. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $55 to enter the car competition.
XM Satellite Radio's Nightshift 2006 promises to add the moving elements of motorsports and the addition of national recording artist concerts. Also, for the first time ever at a HIN or Nightshift event, Formula D will be holding its official driver search. Drivers who qualify will earn their official Formula D license allowing them to compete in all 2006 Need For Speed Formula D Championship series events. Competitors who qualify at Nightshift will compete in the opening round taking place in conjunction with the Long Beach Grand Prix on April 2.
XM Satellite Radio's Nightshift 2006 features over 500 show vehicles in the car competition vying for more than $15,000 in cash and prizes. The Nightshift competition emphasizes performance with new motorsport focused awards like "Hottest Drift Style," "Hottest GT Style," "Hottest Drag Car," and more. In addition to Formula D Qualifier there will be exclusive drift ride-alongs where lucky fans get to ride in professional drift cars. Also, along with the freestyle sport bike stunting, hundreds of motorcycles will be on display with a newly added sport bike competition.
Returning sponsor Valvoline will present Super Street Cars on Tour with the BRS Time Attack FD, Tein Wide Body Civic and C West Carbon Fiber S2000. Show visitors can get up-close and personal with the hottest, trendiest cars in the customized world, straight from the pages of the top magazines.
Cars and the concert world come together with the highly anticipated performance by Pitbull and Lil' Rob. Lil' Rob recently released his newest album, Twelve Eighteen, and will soon be heard as a guest performer on Kanye West's upcoming single. Pitbull's debut album, M.I.A.M.I. (Money Is a Major Issue) was released this year by TVT Records, known as the Crunk movement's premiere label with artists like Lil' John and the Ying Yang Twins. Featured songs on the album include "That's Nasty (Remix)" with Lil' John and Fat Joe, "Oye" from the 2 Fast 2 Furious soundtrack and his hit debut single, "Culo."
Additionally, the search for Miss HIN San Diego will take place front and center on the mainstage. Ursula Mayes, Miss HIN 2005, will host this competition to find the next contender in the search for Miss HIN 2007. Ursula can be seen elsewhere this year as one of Maxim's "Sexiest 100" and on the new NBC program, "Deal or No Deal." Miss HIN 2006, Amber Lancaster, a former Seattle Seahawk's Sea Gal, Miss Hawaiian Tropics and last year's Miss Makita, will sign autographs with other top-name models in the M Lounge. The Bombshell Models will also attend the San Diego show to challenge anyone willing to take them on at the poker tables for BombSearch, the poker-playing competition that will test the card skills of local ladies across the nation in the search for the next Bombshell Model.
