Sense Holdings Expands Scientific Staff at Oak Ridge National Lab to Accelerate Commercialization of Handheld Explosives Detector; Development Team Focusing on Breakthrough MEMS-based Multiuse Detector for Homeland Security Markets
A total of 15 additional research staff reinforcements, a mix of both fulltime and part time personnel, are now being dedicated to the Sense Holdings project at Oak Ridge.
“We are very pleased to announce the hiring of so many top-notch qualified researchers and scientists to reinforce our staff and ensure the successful market debut this year of our superior explosives detection technology at the cutting-edge of MEMS science.”
The reinforcements directly follow the Company's signing of a landmark cooperative research and development agreement (CRADA) with the Oak Ridge laboratory in November which called for the hiring of additional employees on this joint development project.
"The personnel additions represent a dramatic boost to this important Homeland Security program," said Sense CEO Dore Perler. "We are very pleased to announce the hiring of so many top-notch qualified researchers and scientists to reinforce our staff and ensure the successful market debut this year of our superior explosives detection technology at the cutting-edge of MEMS science."
Most of the new personnel are pre-existing researchers and scientists at Oak Ridge, a laboratory operated by the U.S. Department of Energy in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, who are now to be employed by Sense under the terms of the agreement.
The research team consists of Dr. Lal Pinnaduwage, a distinguished senior scientist at Oak Ridge and research professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, who has authored over 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals and was instrumental in the filing of two key patents and 3 pending patents, along with Dr. Bruce Warmack, principle investigator on the Sense CRADA. Other key hires include physicist Dr. Dennis Lee McCorkle, organic chemist Dr. Nicie Conley Murphy and engineer Anthony C. Gehl, M.S.
