Melodeo Releases New Version of Mobilcast; On-Demand Streaming and Sharing Improves Access and Listening Experience; Top-Rated Podcasts Exclusively Available
With on-demand streaming a podcast starts playing after 30 seconds, and continues playing while it is being downloaded to the phone. No longer do listeners have to wait until the download process is complete before enjoying their favorite podcasts. Nor are listeners limited to podcasts that run 30 minutes or less.
“We've not only cut the wait time before listening to a podcast, but we've expanded the number of podcasts available by breaking the 30 minute mobile barrier.”
This version of Mobilcast also includes Share, a peer-to-peer like feature that allows consumers to send the Mobilcast application to a friend via SMS.
"We've already made it easier to get Mobilcast on a phone by introducing SMS download. With the new release we focused on further improving the listening experience," said Bill Valenti, Melodeo Executive Vice President and Mobilcast Maestro. "We've not only cut the wait time before listening to a podcast, but we've expanded the number of podcasts available by breaking the 30 minute mobile barrier."
Melodeo is also working with a number of mobile operators and handset manufacturers in order to help consumers have direct, immediate access to Mobilcast and the Mobilcast Network.

Leading Podcasters Create Exclusive Content
Leading podcasters are creating podcasts exclusively for Mobilcast listeners. Among these is The Eric Rice Show. Since getting behind the mic nearly four years ago, Eric and his co-hosts have entertained hundreds of thousands of listeners.
"The way Mobilcast enables folks to listen to podcasts on connected devices is certainly one of the next big things in podcasting. Mobilcast is a great way to reach a broader audience and give our current listeners more variety when they are on the go," said Eric Rice, host of The Eric Rice Show.
