2005-2006 Outlook on Nanotechnology in Taiwan
The Taiwanese National Science and Technology Program for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology is a 23.5 billion Taiwan Dollars (TWD) program that officially began in 2003. The Ministry of Economical Affairs (MOEA) provides two thirds of the funding, with the rest coming from the National Science Council (NSC) and other governmental agencies including the Ministry of Education (MOE), Academia Sinica, the Atomic Energy Council, and the Department of Health.
The program calls for a concerted effort by industries, academic, and research organizations. The expected outcome is world-class research in selected areas of nanotechnology, the realization of major industrial applications, and the development of high-quality human resources.
This report covers all current activity in government, companies and the research community.
