JustGive.org Coordinates Donations for U.S. Hurricane Relief Efforts by Providing Online Access to Qualified Charitable Organizations
| JustGive Expands Access to Local and National Non-Profit Groups Committed to Assisting Communities Along the Gulf Coast That Have Been Impacted by Hurricane Rita |
JustGive(R) (www.justgive.org), a national nonprofit organization that uses technology to increase overall giving by connecting people with the charities and causes they care about most, has expanded its online hurricane relief resources to include access to trusted local and national organizations that are directly involved with delivering aid to victims of Hurricane Rita. By making donations through JustGive, individuals are able to contribute to multiple qualified charities, and learn about organizations that are focused on providing relief to specific community-related causes, such as children, animals, housing and land recovery, or medical relief efforts. For more detailed information and to make a donation, visit http://www.justgive.org/hurricanes.
To make charitable giving even easier, JustGive has an established partnership with American Express that allows Cardmembers to donate Membership Rewards(R) points through a link from the JustGive homepage to The American Express(R) Donation Site. Through October 31, 2005, for every 1,000 points you redeem for donations using the JustGive or American Express website links, American Express will donate an additional $5, for a total of $10 for each 1,000 points redeemed, to the charity of your choice.
"Hurricanes Katrina and Rita have taken a devastating toll on Gulf Coast communities, severely impacting the region's economic, technology and healthcare infrastructure. Our hope is to provide a well-organized, single point of contact for people to learn about, and donate to, the local and national organizations they feel most passionate about," said Kendall Webb, executive director and founder, JustGive. "To date, charitable giving through JustGive for Hurricane Katrina aid has been extremely successful. We hope to continue those efforts by leveraging our industry partnerships with organizations like American Express to further relief efforts."
JustGive has conveniently organized access to charitable organizations on its "Help Hurricane Relief Efforts" page, including American National Red Cross; AmeriCares Foundation, Inc.; Boys & Girls Clubs of America; Farm Aid; Habitat for Humanity; and North Shore Animal League America, Inc. Another benefit of using JustGive as a primary online donations vehicle is that donors will receive a single, consolidated statement for year-end tax purposes.
