Second Acquisition in the United States: InfraWorlds Buys Assets of Mobile Digital Media (MDM)

Following up on its purchase of US-based mobile software publisher 995 SOFT in July, InfraWorlds has continued its aggressive external growth strategy with the acquisition of Mobile Digital Media (MDM), a Silicon Valley-based publisher and distributor of packaged retail software for mobile devices. The acquisition, which took effect in August, was in the form of an asset purchase from MDM's former parent company, Quickoffice, Inc.
MDM enjoys a leading position in the distribution of consumer software for mobile phones and PDA's on physical media, including SD and MMC expansion cards as well as CD-ROM. The company specializes in high-quality licensed titles for distribution on Palm OS, Windows Mobile Pocket PC and Smartphone, and Symbian platforms. MDM's titles include EA Sports Madden 06, Atari Retro, Microsoft Age of Empires, World Poker Tour Texas Hold 'Em, Merriam-Webster's 11th Collegiate Dictionary, Zondervan NIV Study Bible, and Encyclopedia Britannica.
MDM's products are sold in more than 11,000 retail outlets in the US, Canada, Mexico, and 40 other countries, as well as via leading online resellers such as Handango, Motricity (Palmgear/Pocketgear), Amazon, and the company's own site, www.gomdm.com.
In addition to strengthening InfraWorlds' entertainment catalog, the merger of the two companies will provide the InfraWorlds' business with new expertise in the retail distribution of content for mobile devices. Morgan Slain, former General Manager at MDM, has joined the company, where he will oversee distribution of content sold on physical media and will continue to develop new business partnerships. Most of MDM's other employees have also joined the InfraWorlds team.
